BioBy day I'm working on my PhD in marine geophysics at UMiami's Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science. I study hydrothermal systems on mid-ocean ridge flanks...and my study area is the Juan de Fuca Ridge off the coast of Washington State. I have a BS in geological sciences from UMiami and an MS in marine science from UC Santa Barbara. I love what I do and like to think I'm not half bad at it! I'm also a loyal fan of the UMiami baseball and football teams, and a member of the Diamond Darlings (Loud Girl #2).
By night I'm a Japanophile....I adore everything about Japanese entertainment and culture! On an average evening you'll find me watching anime or J-dramas, rocking out to J-Pop in my car (I <3 Johnny's Entertainment groups like KAT-TUN and NewS), or studying the language and culture of Japan. I love anything 'kawaii'....and collect Hello Kitty and San-x goods. I also sew extensively, and have been cosplaying since 1999. I attend a lot of anime/sci-fi cons in FL...you never know when you might run into me!
I also love cooking, baking, boba tea, old movies, shopping, searching for awesome curry or sushi restaurants, karaoke, BEER, camping/hiking, and traveling the world on research vessels.
